Constructed in 1026–1027 CE by King Bhimdev I, the Modhera Sun Temple stands as a premier example of Maru-Gurjara architecture on the banks of the Pushpavati River. This protected monument is famous for its sophisticated design, featuring an astronomical alignment that allows the sun's rays to illuminate the inner sanctum. The complex is divided into three main parts: the Surya Kund (a massive stepped reservoir), the Sabha Mandapa (assembly hall), and the Guda Mandapa (shrine hall). Every inch of the structure is adorned with detailed carvings of deities, birds, and floral patterns. Visitors can also explore a nearby museum housing a collection of ancient statues recovered from the site. The entire area is well-preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India, providing a clean and spacious environment for visitors to explore India's rich historical and spiritual heritage.
