Salim Ali National Park, also known as City Forest National Park, is situated in the scenic city of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Established in 1986, the park was dedicated to the esteemed Indian ornithologist Salim Ali to honor his immense contributions to science. Historically, the 9.07 square kilometer area served as a critical habitat for diverse species, including the hangul, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, and leopard, while providing a sanctuary for over 70 bird species. However, following significant land-use changes between 1998 and 2001, much of the area was converted into the Royal Springs Golf Course. Today, the park stands as a poignant reminder of the region's environmental heritage and its ongoing transformation.
