Sainthia, formerly known as Nandipur, is a dynamic city in the Suri Sadar subdivision of Birbhum district, West Bengal. Known as the business city of the district, it is the fourth most populous city in Birbhum and the 95th in West Bengal. The city, covering an area of 10 km², had a population of 44,601 in 2011. Located along the Mayurakshi River, Sainthia is renowned for the Nandikeshwari Temple, one of the Shakta pithas in the Indian subcontinent, drawing pilgrims and tourists for its spiritual significance.
