Jihlava

Jihlava, the capital of the Vysočina Region in the Czech Republic, is a city with a rich history dating back to the early 13th century. Initially established as a royal mining town, Jihlava became the oldest mining settlement in the country. Over time, as mining declined, trade and crafts flourished, shaping the city's economy. Despite being damaged by a fire in 1523 and the Thirty Years' War, Jihlava recovered and became a major textile center. Today, visitors can explore its well-preserved historic center, featuring an eclectic mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. The early Gothic Church of Saint James the Great stands out as a national cultural monument.
