Tacna, officially known as San Pedro de Tacna, is a city in southern Peru and the capital of the Tacna department. Situated in the Caplina River valley, it lies just 35 km north of the Chilean border. Known for its strong patriotic identity, Tacna features numerous monuments and place names that commemorate Peru's independence and the War of the Pacific. The city is a major commercial center and is Peru's tenth most populous city, offering a vibrant mix of cultural and commercial activities.
